7 Simple Exercises That Undo the Damage of Sitting

We live in a time and age where we have rampant obesity and a continuing de-conditioning of our bodies. Our physical injuries, surgeries, and medicine usage are all going up because of this. We struggle with chronic back pain, hip pain, and shoulder pain because of the lifestyle that we have chosen. We sit all day long at our computers, in our cars, on our couch, etc. This causes a de-conditioning of our core muscles and causes us to slouch, round our shoulders, and have terrible posture. It is also the major cause for back pain and fall risks in older age. When we refuse to move lower than 90 degrees we lose that range of motion and become incapable of moving lower than 90 degrees. This increases our fall risk as we get older and ensures that we need chair lifts and wheelchairs as we age. I just recently was listening to the SpartanUp Podcast and heard Dr. Kelly Starrett talk about sitting on the floor and the benefits of moving from the ground up. As I type this I am sitting on a couch cushion on the floor because I got rid of my couch, dining room table, and soon my 4 poster bed. We need to remain strong is every area of our lives and I fully believe that this is where we need to start. Check out this article and get stronger.
