The Body Mass Index has been the standard for years and it has always been very limited in its validity. It is a great resource for people who are not in shape but for those of us that are in shape it doesn't take into account muscle mass. It is very skewed and has really made people feel completely inadequate because they can almost never meet the standards. I know that I am actually considered overweight at 6'0" and 184 lbs, even though I am a competitive athlete in the best shape of my life. We need to find another measuring system that really focuses on health rather than weight. Weight is just a number, health is a complete look at a person's mental, physical, and spiritual mindset. So check out this article and find out why this system is not working for us.
