Many people struggle with depression because they just cannot get over the issues in their past. They cannot find healthy ways to deal with these issues and allow them to hold them back from pressing forward in their lives. We have all dealt with some traumatic things in our past. I struggled with abuse, addiction, and violence in my past. However, I refuse to let all those things that could be stumbling blocks keep me from making my future bright. Actually I have turned those negative things into a positive force by embracing them and letting them fuel my passion for the now. Those challenges that I have faced have become the very reason I will not let anything stand in my way. So don't completely forget but use those things to make you better now. Learn from them and let it be the fuel for your fire. No matter how much someone has hurt you in the past, resolve that no one can ever hurt you that bad again and use that to encourage yourself that it will never be that bad again. Love your life and love yourself.
