We have this idea, taken from bodybuilders, that you need at least one gram of protein per pound of bodyweight. While this may be true for people that are trying to pack on the pounds and muscle (honestly I even question that), most normal people don't need anywhere near this amount of protein. The problem is that our body only process so much protein and the rest it excretes from the body, which is why most bodybuilders have problems with constipation.
