Is Bodyweight Training Effective for Building Muscle?

I have friends in the fitness world that believe that free weights are end all be all of building muscle. While free weights can help to isolate muscles and provide definition they are far from the best way to build strength and true muscle gains. This article will explain this in greater detail. I personally believe that if you are working out to look good free weights are great, but if you want real world strength, functional fitness and bodyweight is the way to go.
