Phytonutrients are simply nutrients that come from plants. However, they are some of the most beneficial nutrients that we can ingest to help fight disease and keep us healthy. Some people believe that these nutrients are not necessary to promote and sustain life. I would propose that if we are not fighting disease and promoting health we are not sustaining a good life. Too often we want medicine that targets the symptoms of disease, but phytonutrients prevent disease. The old saying a pinch of prevention is worth a pound of cure certainly applies here.
