5 Reasons Why You Shouldn’t Do Static Stretches

I see people at the gym everyday doing their static stretches before their workouts and thinking that their 2 mins of stretching is helping them to stay injury free. Then they wonder why they are so sore and get injured easily after a workout. The problem is before you workout your muscles are cold and not pliable. We need to warm these muscles up, so that they become pliable and good for the stress that we will put them under. This is what really saves you from injury because now as your muscles and joints are lubricated and pliable, they work properly and stretch like a fresh rubberband. If not, they stretch like a dry rubberband and snap. After a workout when your muscles are filled with blood and are sufficently stretched and pulled it is good to do some stronger static stretches for 2-3 mins each to help with lactic acid buildup and general health. So check out this article for more info.
