Kickstarter fuels the path to funding... or failing

Crowdfunding is a great way to not only get funds to start or expand your business, but also a great way to find out how viable your business may be to a larger market than your own personal contacts. I will say this works especially well for businesses that are technology or product based. Aside from that it is really a crap shoot. Many people on these crowdfunding sites are looking for the next big tech advancement (i.e. Pebble. or smart watches) or causes. If you have another type of business it may not be as successful and not a great gauge of how successful your business may be when focused on your target market.
